DreamFreely Diversity Pledge

We will:
- Expand employment and career development practices to be more inclusive of underrepresented communities.
- Develop a plan to increase hiring of LGBTQ, women, and people of color.
- Educate HR, hiring teams, and current employees about unconscious bias and explicit prejudice, and activate specific plans to alleviate them.
- Create internal development programs accessible to underrepresented employees.
- Share data about LGBTQ, race, ability, and gender demographics within our office.

Though I'm going though the list already created by the Mn Tech Diversity Pledge; to see how the conversation is these days:
Anyone remember the MN Tech Diversity Challenge?
I going to do that, but do it better.
The list contains about 200 companies; and I'm going to reach out to all of them.
The idea isn't to shame or blame, completely the opposite; the idea to inquire and comprehend:
What are leaders thinking about regarding diversity?
What are the obstacles and concerns?
What are the hopes and aspirations?

The short-comings of MN Tech Diversity Pledge were in it's lack of follow-thru, as no monies were put towards the effort, just thoughts and prayers.
Though perhaps this is because there was no specific plan either; again just thoughts and prayers.
Long-ago I had the idea to follow-thru with those on the list, but I didn't have the resources; because people such as myself are easily unconscious under-resourced; the story being that we're "smart enough to figure it out."
Sadly, what we figure out is the most people are consumed in their own struggles; the trick is to help each other find a way out.
Product Offerings
Diversity, right?
The primary products are the Manifesting Empathy and Diversity Inverted pamphlet; they provide the conceptual foundation for everything else.
Next, before DigiSnaxx was an infrequent newsletter, it was an unused event board.
The next idea is to add a map feature to this unused event board, and spin it out along with DigiFest, our online conference; in this way we are also launching a directory.
If anyone remembers the MetroIBA directory? Like that, but better.
And this is where we start to build the foundation for our online community.
Because our focus is to build inclusive, sustainable, collective and individual growth.
Those who sign the pledge will also be contributing financially; and most of this money will go to funding DigiFest; everything will be transparent.
WHY?
Because you can't be taught diversity, you have to experience it – and so my task is to create an environment ripe for experiencing diversity in an educational way.
Though it costs money to build and maintain such a space.
DigiFest provides an initial estuary in which to experience multiple cultural ideas interacting with each other; the time in-between events is spent doing deeper work in smaller groups and individually.
DigiSnaxx provides an educational institution in which to learn everything from coding to marketing and beyond.
Remote Working
I do not live in Minnesota any longer; it is for health reasons, though I maintain a connection because entrepreneurially it is beneficial to do so, no?
Additionally, my identity in person can cause turmoil; I've caused turmoil, in the past.
Such was not my intention, though was also not entirely in my control; what is in my control, is my presence, which I've removed in order to be able to better focus on the conversation.
Additionally, my cost of living is greatly reduced in this situation, allowing more funds to be directed towards the work, rather than an individual's sustenance.
Because to work in the industry of diversity is to first realize, most have only a superficial comprehension of the ideas, and few any experience beyond getting their toes wet.
This makes the community vulnerable and defensive to the conversation, even the slightest whisper can cause a panic; cautious to buy.
But the gold a the end of the rainbow is real; we've just been lost in misdirection since forever, it seems ... though I've found a way.
My other goal is to build stronger connections between our geographical locals, and beyond.
Each location contains such a multiplicity of possibility; I think it is important to build bridges at this time, as it is in all times.
Yes / No ?
