The Myth of Equality

Equality is the banner around which leftists have gathered for the better part of the past few centuries; and not without merit.

Perhaps this is simply the natural evolution of thought.

Equality used to have such significance, because the inequality was so blatant and depraved; to the point that the worst of the behavior is only starting to be talked about ... the human plantations where humans were bred.

And people will say that contemporary issues of equality are just as grave ... though instead of happening in the sun-kissed pastures of the Southeast over 100 years ago, they are now happening in the hallowed ivory towers of our most sacred educational institutions — and cartoon islands.

Perhaps we've come to a place, or a plateau, with respect to "equality" ... as it's very existence predicates the existence of "inequality" ... which at day's end, and in the scariest depths of night, are all based on myths and illusions anyways.

We wrongly equate equality with value ... though then negate this supposedly inherent value when it serves us.

This is what has become of equality ... everyone deserves to be heard, yet censorship is increasing from all directions.

We self-censor, and collectively censor ... but for what? and why?

Because we know that we are not well equipped to navigate inter-personal conversations; that place where equality meets implementation, not just convenient theory.

And this is where equality breaks down, because we don't have a model to define what equality definitively is ... and so it becomes a definition of our choosing ... a definition that constantly requires justification, which isn't a definition at all.

And so the chaos continues ... wars raged around everyone's definition of equality, and their fight to be heard.

So no, we are not equal; moreover the contemporary ideas around equality are dangerous ... diversity is not about equality in the quantitative sense ...

We are not all equal ... what does that even mean ... that we can all run fast ?

Or that we can all play the piano? While during calculus in our heads ... waiting for the kitchen timer to tell us when the food is ready ...?

Is that what equality means?

Or maybe it means that we all deserve to have the opportunities, the access to knowledge, time and space, to be able to do such things ... and that I would not argue with ... but that's not a present definition of equality.

That is a dream; and it's egotistical.

And I hope to hit a nerve with that one ... true poverty is when others can paint our paradise for us, and we believe their projection is better than our authentic, original and individual definition.

I do think we all have an equal right to pursue what our personal definition of paradise ... within certain limitations, and considerations ... but ... now we're getting closer to the root objective of equality ... it is still a future definition ... but perhaps we can transpose it into the present.

Why do we all deserve the opportunity and ability to pursue our best selves ?

Because ... what else is there to do as a human being ... it's what we're doing anyways, but society has manufactured so many artificial and unnecessary restraints, in order to maintain a restrictive and dangerous concentration of commercial power.

Either way ... the root of it all is that ... we all want to feel valued for who we are ...

And if we want to then transpose this future definition of equality ... in that we all want to be recognized for our value ...

Instead of saying that we are all equal, the test is to see how we are all necessary ... not just having value ... but necessary.

Value can be dismissed, necessity cannot.

Respect, and consideration are required on both sides, and so the axiom survives.

What do you think?
