Here's the process.
Hello ... so I guess I'm going to explain it all, with necessary citations.
First, pour yourself a glass of water, preferably filtered water; but just room temperature water.
Make sure you have a glass poured for when you end the following process.
It starts off with Mantak Chia's teachings about the breath; in the womb we received and expelled everything through our belly button, that is how our energy flows.
So when we breathe we imagine the energy entering our body, falling down between our legs, and then rising up our spine, (this is the yang, or hot energy) ... our tongue is the connector, place it on the roof of your mouth, and now the energy falls down your chest (yin, or cold energy), to exit your belly button.
Your feet on the ground ground you, while your head held forward to opens your lungs and connects you to the heavens; be comfortable, start there, you can read the book (Awaken the Healing Energy of the Tao) if you want to learn the specifics, and if you're you, I've already sent you a copy; you can ask for it again.
Make sure to cup your right hand over your left hand; this assures circulation during this breath work, through your arms.
That is the basic idea ... inhale, energy enters our belly button, falls down and then up our spine ... exhale over the tongue, down our chest, and then out our belly button ... got it?
At present, I want you to do something different ... I want you to do this meditation practice either seated near an open window, or outside ... you can either be seated in a chair, sit with you butt comfortably on the edge of the chair; or do it outside propped up by a tree at your back, sitting but ... with tree supporting you so your waist is more elevated than you knees and ankles.
For the first thirty-six breaths, (9x3 or 3x9), just experience your energy flowing in through your belly button, up your back, through your mind and tongue, then down the front of your chest and exiting through your belly button again; cupping your hands, right over left.
After this take a moment to relax and reflect on the experience; then when you're ready, return to doing the same, but instead of cupping your hands, hold them open on your knees or lap, to gather energy ... and imagine all of your energy being gathered into a sphere that becomes heavier and denser with every memory you put into it ...
You've gone through so much these first 20+ years of life, and you've done so much ... so much of it to get to where you now are ... credentialed.
All of that energy, all of those memories and dreams and fears ... collect all of that energy ... breathing in through your belly button, and up your spine, through your tongue and down your chest, out your belly button goes your breath, and out your hands, collecting and growing energy into the sphere.
Then when you're ready ... you decide when that it ... but challenge yourself, get it ALL out
I recently heard of a way of meditating (from some sect of Buddhism I think) ... where ... the Buddha said all of life is suffering, to live is to find meaning, and reason to love ... to connect through the storm of life ...
I added that last part ... anywho, jajaja, we breathe in all of the suffering, the frustration, the pain and the anger, especially the anger ... which is just sadness in a mask, so we breathe in the sadness too ... but who we are, what we've done, who you are, what you've done ... is so amazing, incredible and beautiful ... who you are is so amazing, incredible, strong, compassionate, considerate, intelligent, kind, goofy and beautiful ... and because of all of this, because we can see and are learning to know the blessing of being alive ... we have gratitude ... and so in this way, we are energy machines ... we don't absorb the world's anger, pain and sadness, but our own ... we acknowledge, accept, and process the difficult parts ... and we exhale gratitude for all that life, the land, the water, the air, the stars and our ancestors have done to enable us to be the people that we are. For them we find the way to exhale gratitude, love and thanksgiving.
Though you have all this energy gathered before you — it's a mixture of all of your emotions, everything you ... you didn't do this for you, you did this for your inner child ... the one who wanted something, who thought this would give you something ... did that inner child get what she wanted ... this achievement is for her.
All of her energy is gathered before you, growing more dense with every breath ...
Take one last patient calm thankful inhale with all of the good and the difficult, and with the next exhale and your arms, throw that sphere of energy, out into the universe, up into the sky ... out of the window if that's where you are, but it should be warm enough to do this outside.
And after you've done that ...
Slowly, patiently, thoughtfully :
"(inhale) Like a flower, (exhale) I am fresh.
(inhale) Like water in a stream, (exhale)I flow.
(inhale) Like a mountain, (exhale) I am strong.
(inhale) Like space, (exhale) I am free"
repeat three times
Then walk through the elements ...
Inhale, fire extends across every pore and fiber of your being.
Fire to cleanse, to burn away all that is not core to your being, to who you choose and work to be every day; burn away all that does not serve your highest good.
Imagine fire running through your nerves, veins and skin to every part of your body, the tips of your fingers and toes, to the lobes of your ears, and the nub of your nose ... and to the retinas of your eyes ... fire to cleanse all that is left from what you threw back out into the universe ... to burn away all that is illusion, both self-inflicted and externally unintentional ...
5 cycles.
And now imagine air flowing through to fan the flames of that fire ... making it burn even hotter, removing all that is not core to who you choose to be ... Inhale the flames grow, exhale the flames deepen, at least 3-5 breath cycles of air - fan the flames to make them burn as bright and hot as possible.
Then water to wash it all away, to sooth and the re-hydrate the being beneath ...
Inhale, water quenches the fire, removing it immediately, covering the surface with fresh cool, mountain born water to calm. Exhale, the water deepens into our being, to nourish and to embrace what remains of our deepest wounds.
3-5 breaths, more if you like.
And then with each breath, imagine the land covering the bones of your being to form your muscle, sinew, and the being of your body; and with each exhale, the flowers and fruits of your being sprouting, growing, blossoming and flourishing.
Inhale, the land grows in abundance and fertility ... exhale the flowers and fruits of your being grow more nutritious and beautiful.
3-5 breaths, again, more if you like.
Finally, imagine all of the precious minerals, metals and stones, those direct descendants of the stars, gathering like armor around the flourishing tierra of your existence to protect and empower you with every breath of your lungs, and every movement of your being.
With every inhale, they gather, and with every exhale, they settle into becoming more a part of your being.
3-5 breaths.
Close by returning to our circular breath, inhale through the belly button, down between our legs, up our spine, through our tongue, which is on the roof of our mouth, and then down our throats, across our chest and out of our belly button ... repeat until returned.
Return to center ... open your eyes if they've been closed ... which can be a helpful addition, just to assure proper mental imaging.
Slowing get up, drink a glass of water and consider your experience, take moments to process and return to yourself ...
But that's it.
muah y roar
wubble you.
The flower, river, mountain, space cycle is from a friend near Chicago named Garret; he plays a groovy guitar too.
The elemental cycle is from Mamo, with the mineral/metal added on by me.
