Sustainable Technology

And the fight against planned obsolescence.

Sustainable processes are so important if one is trying to make progress in anything; and so are sustainable tools. So here I'm documenting all of the tech that I use.

Laptop | Tablet | Phone

That's why I'm so super excited to have a sustainable laptop, that runs a sustainable operating system, that I can configure to my specifications and use.

Here’s the toolset we use at DreamFreely to keep things afloat!

Operating System: Ubuntu / Windows 11
Browsers: LibreWolf & Brave
Text Editor: VSCode

This is the warhorse; I've got four-changeable ports, right now they are loaded with two USB-C ports, an SD Card Reader, and 250GB External Drive.

I'm running the AMD Ryzen 5 7640U with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of basic storage.

So what's the 250GB for, you're asking ?!

That houses the virtual-boxes for work and play; play being a Kali set-up 😸.

This computer is set-up to manage live audio/video recordings; as well as audio and video editing. Ergo the need for 1TB of storage space.

Though I've recently acquired a Nextcloud instance using Hetzner; which is fantastic.

Using a technology called rclone I'm able to update and sync various folders across my devices; mainly for saving/storing media.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6

Recently purchased, to replace the old one, which was sold to the Kozmik Yak for studio use.

This one has a bit more RAM, and so is just a bit quicker.

Mainly used for Obsidian note-tracking, especially when writing articles.

Another reason I got this one is because it is compatible with LineageOS, and custom operating system for Android phones and tablets, which can help the equipment to last longer.

Seeing as I only need the tech for specific uses, all of which are minimal, and ought not change too much, even as technology evolves.

Samsung Galaxy S22

This has been the workhorse over the past few years, wrapped by an Otterbox to keep it safe!

Super stoked this has the ol' Dual-SIM card feature, so I can use both my Colombian and American numbers on the same phone.
