Spanish Foundations Course
Hello, my name is Canin Carlos.
I've been teaching English for over 10 years here in Colombia, and I started learning Spanish over 30 years ago in Orono, Minnesota.

I now live in Medellin, Colombia, and I have been a Colombian cedula-holder for over a decade.
For native-English speakers it can be a pain to wrap our head-around the Spanish language, so I've created an introductory course that gives you the foundations you need to master the Spanish language as quickly as possible.
It's one thing to know a language, and something else entirely to teach it.
This five-class course covers the basics of past-, present-, future- and auxiliary verb forms, along with basic pronunciation and vocabulary.
After the completion of this course you will be fully-equipped to pursue further learning with native-Spanish speakers; which is absolutely what I suggest you do!
The introductory price is $75 USD, $15 per one-hour class.

The Five-Course Program
It is expected that you have a dedicated notebook for class, as much of your practice will revolve around writing down verb structures, and example sentences.
The trick being that we'll construct your example sentences together, using phrases you actually want to use and remember!
First Class
In this first class we'll cover present tense verb forms for -ar, -er and -ir verbs.
We'll also introduce the irregular verbs, tener (to have) and querer (to want); along with ir + a + infinitive future form.
It sounds like a lot, but it makes the most sense to introduce these ideas this way.
You're not expected to memorize it all in the first class, but a solid foundation will be laid.
Second Class
We'll review our present tense forms, and learn the irregular verbs ser and estar, which both mean to be. We'll talk about what makes them different, and how to use them.
Then I'll introduce to the estar + ando/iendo form, and how they are used, along with the reflexive verb gustarse.
By the end of this class you will have all the basic knowledge necessary to conduct most conversations; you'll need practice, of course, but you'll have the basic knowledge necessary.
Third Class
In this class we'll cover the past-tense, preterit and imperfect, verb forms for -ar, -er and -ir verbs.
This is where things can get confusing, for sure, especially with irregular verbs; though you'll have the pattern now by now ... and so the rest is just a matter of practice.
So we'll practice!
Fourth Class
Your conversation is improving, and now you're able to have complete conversations in Spanish.
We'll spend this class reviewing what we've already learned and then add the haber + ado/ido verb form.
We'll also cover two future verb-tenses; though again, you've got the pattern down by now ... so it's just a matter of learning the endings and practicing 😄
Fifth Class
This class is complete review, we'll be conversing mostly in Spanish at this point; the conversation may be slow, but you'll be connecting the neurons necessary to communicate in the Spanish language, and that's the point!
You've got all of the basics necessary to conduct most any conversation you might like, from talking about what you did, to what you're doing, to what you would like to do; you've got the foundational basics, and we've practiced them enough for you to be familiar.
You're now ready to enter language-exchanges and classes with native-Spanish speakers with confidence and a solid sense of direction!
