idioki: English Pronunciation
I teach American Standard English pronunciation using materials from classic English literature. My class is part theater, part gym; as my focus is on pronunciation and the accurate reproduction of English sounds.
Si vives en Colombia, ve aquí, porfa; gracias.
I offer classes in Colombia via Profesores Extranjeros and internationally through Preply; while I am growing a channel on WhatsApp, as well as a platform.
I've been teaching English for nearly ten years, and over that time have honed a methodology that produces the right outcomes time and again.
The methodology is built around reading, using a mixture of classic English literature and technical articles to create learning experiences that blur the line between the stage and the gym. In this way the classes are a space to both learn and practice.
I recently expanded the curriculum to include presentations built around the five-paragraph essay, to help you practice presenting in English – as well as out-of-class listening exercises, with quizzes, to help you hone your listening skills.
Honestly, I absolutely love helping people improve their English pronunciation skills!!!
Classes & Library
Classes are tailored to your personal interests and needs, though follow a general template; we start class by practicing numbers, a tongue twister and some simple poems to warm-up.
The we read some technical articles, or story, per your interests and aspirations.
We close our class with some light conversation, giving you a chance to practice extemporaneous speech.
As well, presentations are an optional part of the curriculum; following the five-paragraph formula, this is an opportunity to present in English on both serious and fun topics.
I'm also building a private collection of content to complement the curriculum.
The library includes cartoons, movies, audiobooks, and PDFs.
Rewards, and content is unlocked by achieving Library milestones.

The Science
There are five parts of our brain that are directly used in creating language.
My method involves ignoring the two parts used to create meaning and focusing on the three parts involved in the mechanical creation of sounds.
Meaning will come more easily afterward.
And once you know how to accurately reproduce the sound, you'll also be able to hear it better.
Wernicke's Area: assigns meaning to words.
Broca's Area: the language planning center. It organizes the ideas you want to express through language.
Angular Gyrus: allows us to associate a perceived word with different images, sensations, and ideas.
Arcuate fasciculus: The arcuate fasciculus is a band of nerves that connects Wernicke's area and Broca's area. It helps you form words, speak clearly, and understand concepts in the form of language.
Cerebellum: Located at the back of the brain, the cerebellum is involved in coordinating voluntary muscle movements, such as opening and closing the mouth, moving the arms and legs, standing upright, and maintaining balance. It also controls language processing.
We focus on developing the cerebellum, arcuate fasciculus, and Broca's area; Wernicke's area and the angular gyrus develop naturally over time, allowing for a greater understanding of letter-sound structure and more accurate reproduction of the correct sounds.
