The Rumors
Actually, and I've said this before, my life parallels the American narrative rather well; I don't seek to elucidate these stories for the benefit of my ego. Rather the aspiration is to draw parallels between contemporary collective narratives, and a singular individual's experience.
I never really paid attention to them.
I'm mentally and emotionally unstable; and reverse-racist, apparently.
But the one that really stung was when a Minneapolis Council member's office started a rumor that I was obsessed with said council member.
It didn't confuse me; it simply angered me.
I'd specifically made attempts to not engage this person outside of work, or community organizing.
And yet here I am, recollecting so as to discard and move on.
Because all of these allegations play upon carefully constructed tropes that colonial bodies having been using for centuries to dehumanize those they seek to control.
