A rambling weekend update
I'm writing this from my tablet ... I'm downsizing ... I'm ...
I'm free; the only toxic woman in my life is Mary Jane, if you want to call her that. I'm thankful; I figured out how to truly make this project open-books, and automate it!
I was never supposed to be able to live my own life; I was human only in the imagination of others, and was almost always a figment of my mother's imagination as well. The idea of even being able to be me ... is an almost foreign concept.
That's really my biggest joy at the moment; I can build this, and I am.
The DigiSnaxx scrapers are working wonderfully, yes I need to organize the DoD contract information, and display aggregate information better, but the raw data is there, and continues to grow.
Ok, there are a few scrapers that broke when I ran them last week; though that is what makes it a job. And I'm finally able to take joy in the work, as something productive to do. While the next task is to build out the governance profiles and business directory as well. Though now that I know how the Ghost profiles will be replicated; I can imagine the way to automate aspects of the Business Profile creation as well.
At some point I also need to convert the client to use Nuxt.js ... so it is server-side rendering and therefore SEO optimized ... 🤮 ... is what it is.
So basically the idea that I'm SUPER stoked about ... API Calls as currency – APICs.
Basically every subscriber accumulates API calls for each month of their subscription, proportional to their subscription amount; free subscribers still get 50 APICs per month.
What are the API calls, or APICs?
They allow you to call the DataSnaxx API endpoints, which will continue yesterdays copy of the database, with all information anonymized, or selected DigiSnaxx API endpoints (events and directory information).
Not everyone will have direct use for APICS ... but let's say that there is an organization with students building an application on the DigiSnaxx dataset ... and they need 10-25,000 API calls for testing.
You can donate your APICs to their project; but then what happens to your APICs ... you can't use them as API Calls anymore ... but they continue to live a second life as Snaxx.
What's the point?
By the numbers each Snaxx is worth one US penny; which is funny to me, because the penny is going the way of the dinosaur. These Snaxx then become usuable currency within the DreamFreely Universe, while there will be other ways to collect Snaxx throughout the ecosystem.
- Testing new features or applications
- Advancing within platforms and applications
- Participating in events
- Voting on company decisions
- Contributing to DigiSnaxx code, which will also be paid for in currency.
These are just some of the ways you will be able to grow your Snaxx stash; but what will you be able to do with the Snaxx ??
One immediate idea that comes to mind is ... donate your Snaxx to a local project ... and in return DreamFreely will contribute the proportional amount of currency to the project. Albeit with some augmentation ... Snaxx will be converted into something more than $.01.
In addition, one will be able to buy in-universe products for discounts, or for free; the idea is still evolving, but it's all just database numbers at the end of the day ... little one's and zero's dancing to and fro. Though also a reflection of energy, and so able to build and be of use.
I'm paring down my technology, that's why I'm typing this from the tablet; I'm going to start testing the tablet for giving classes as well.
Code when I have to code; but do that at the dedicated computer for coding, etc ... or if need be, VNC or SSH, into whatever need be, from the tablet in an emergency ... but also ... not really run software that would be in an "emergency state" for more than a few hours ... and if it is ... well ... no need to dwell on it ...
The idea is to create code that is a seed for what might be.
I'm also lookin' at getting the Unihertz Jelly Star for a phone ... totally compact, basically just for WhatsApp and reading messages; nothing more.

I removed most of the social media from my phone ... but I still don't like carrying it around ... plus the Jelly Star as a headphone jack!
Bluetooth isn't good for the brain, to have in your ear ... no bueno ... I've been using a homemade mouthwash as well; ginger, cloves, cinnamon and coconut oil basically. Trying to be more health conscious.
Though I suppose the big task is to put everything I need to live and work in one bag ... and I think I've almost got it, to be honest. The tablet is the key; though really only for weekend trips, no work.
And I guess I'm a bit torn ... because to a degree ... with a bit more powerful tablet - which are possible ... I could easily VNC into a machine for coding purposes. Though the idea would be to have a tablet that runs a full Linux install; though even here, I'm really narrowing down my programs.
Though to be honest, it isn't entirely unimaginable to make a small portable computer, specifically for writing blog posts, and recording music. As when I say recording music, I'm talkin' about just grabbing one-takes, not any actual production. Though even there ... that's where I struggle.
The pack fits most everything ... except the laptop, comfortably.
So the tablet works great for weekend trips, and camping; I would like to write more; and I'm also developing a notebook strategy as well; though typeing is something I can do rather quickly ... and so is efficient.
Either way, I have the PataGucci slingbag as well ~ which fits the Akai midi-keyboard ... for music production. The otherside of it all being ... I've been considering crocheting a pair of saddle bags for the motorcycle ... so they are entirely custom ... to hold a guitar on the right, and extra water, gas and other miscellaneous items, on the left.
The the boy is set to travel!
Which is the other aspect of the aspiration; to both travel, and to settle down ...
Either way, I aspire to live a simple life ... simple things, good things, sustainable things; I'm thankful that this tablet is coming in useful, along with the keyboard!
There are still a few nuances to figure out ... transferring photos from my phone to tablet being one ... nevermind, just emailed them to myself 😄

The tablet just runs Google Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Obsidian; along with the social medias, Instagram and LinkedIn. Though I don't think I'm going to push much further from there; I would however like to organize my YouTube selections, as I've bookmarked videos about things I'd like to learn.
But that's it, really working to cut tech out of my life unless it's serving a specific purpose.
Which brought me to a new tagline for DreamFreely; I still like the old one, this just kinda builds off of the idea.
Online tools to improve life off-line.
That's the idea.
